Rakhin. K.V. has an extensive experience in the field of design and textile technology since 2000. He received a Master's degree in Design Management and a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from Annamalai University. He also holds a Diploma in Handloom Technology and a Post Diploma in Textile Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, Salem. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of Design at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. Before joining the National Institute of Design, Haryana, he was an assistant professor at Amity University Haryana. Prior to choosing teaching as a profession, he served in various textile and garments industries. During this period, he coordinated with many multinational retailers such as Limited Brands, Inc., GAP, Inc., Walmart Inc., Spartina449, Permoda Colombia etc., in the domain of fabric R&D, product development and production. He has also been involved in some projects, including marketing and export promotion schemes of Weavers service center Chennai, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. His areas of research interest embrace haptic design; design management strategies; sustainable design; textile sensory experience; sustainable textiles, and indigenous textiles.
